10 years. Thousands of communities. One shared vision.

Over the past decade, the European Day of Sustainable Communities has showcased the people transforming their communities from the ground up. From renewable energy and agroecology to biodiversity, circular economies, affordable housing and participatory democracy, communities are already putting solutions into practice.

For our 10th anniversary, we celebrated what has been achieved, and asked an important question: How can we give communities a stronger role in shaping Europe’s future?

This September, more than 70 policy dialogues brought communities and decision-makers together at local, regional and national levels. These conversations create spaces for community leaders, policymakers, researchers and civil society to exchange experiences and explore how policies can better recognise, support and strengthen community-led solutions.
