Europe’s food systems are facing growing pressures from climate change, biodiversity loss, resource depletion and economic uncertainty. Yet across the continent, communities are already building practical alternatives through local food economies, community-supported agriculture, food cooperatives, ecovillages, food councils and regenerative farming initiatives.
Future of Food presents a shared vision and 13 policy recommendations co-created by community-led initiatives, networks and practitioners from across Europe. The publication highlights how community-led action can strengthen resilience, restore ecosystems, improve food security and contribute to a just transition towards sustainable food systems.
Drawing on real-world experience and grassroots innovation, it calls on policymakers, funders and institutions to recognise, support and scale the transformative work that communities are already leading.
