Organizing for democracy – Responding to the rise of authoritarianism and the far right

HOSTED BY: The European Community Organizing Network

WHAT: An international convening and learning exchange between donors, community organizers, and activists to:

• Build relationships and foster dialogue between donors and community organizers
• Learn about organizing in its diversity and current funding trends and practices
• Have strategic conversations on how to support and develop community organizing in Europe

DESCRIPTION:

In response to the alarming resurgence of authoritarian tendencies across Europe, the Forum centers on how community organizing efforts confront growing threats to democracy, and how civil society organisations leading this work are facing funding and sustainability challenges.

ECON members will share powerful stories of resistance and organizing from the frontlines of democratic struggle, highlighting the innovative organizing practices adopted in their countries.

We will have honest dialogues on community organizing as a strategy for strengthening democracy and citizen participation, and on how to support organisations and groups driving community-led change in Europe.
