Jason Nardi
RIPESS Europe
Jason is a passionate social and environmental justice activist with a longstanding commitment that began in childhood with animal rights advocacy and a transition to vegetarianism at age 8. A Florentine with a dual citizenship (US and Italy) – and a parent of two wonderful teenagers – he is currently engaged in various local, national, and international initiatives, gaining and sharing insights through diverse responsibilities.
With a decade of experience at the Ethical Finance Foundation (part of Banca Etica in Italy), involvement in local development NGOs and coordination of Social Watch in Italy, Jason has been promoting solidarity economy and finance (through local practices, training, peer-learning).
As the general delegate of RIPESS Europe and former coordinator of RIPESS, intercontinental network fostering social solidarity economy, he’s been working on advocacy at the UN (COP, FAO, ILO, UNSSETF, etc.) and convergences of social movements in the International Council of the World Social Forum and the WSF of Transformative Economies (and now in the European Common Space for Alternatives).
Additionally, as co-president of RIES (Italian Solidarity Economy Network) and co-founder of Solidarius Italia, he focuses on advancing research and development of solidarity economy circuits. His academic background in communication and media fuels my rights advocacy and community initiatives in Florence, where he lives and supports CSA projects, mutualism initiatives, and community forums, all while enjoying playing the clarinet in a street band and teaching acroyoga.
